Although its design was already outdated when World War II began, the Swordfish achieved more than its share of spectacular successes including the attack on the Italian Fleet at its major port of Taranto in 1940 (a full year BEFORE the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor!) and the crippling of the German battleship Bismarck in May, 1941. After more modern aircraft were developed for the torpedo attack role, the Swordfish was very successfully redeployed in the anti-submarine role where it accounted for no fewer than 14 U-Boats destroyed. Because of its extremely low takeoff and landing speeds, the type was perfectly suited for use on the smaller escort carriers and, on occasion, they even took off from carriers that were at anchor!

This newly upgraded set features more accurately scaled wing struts and undercarriage than the model we first introduced 4 years ago. While photography of these little gems is a challenge for our equipment and limited skills, check out the well proportioned model including the fuselage with forward and aft cockpits, the engine cowling, the wings with newly rendered struts. the delicate undercarriage and torpedo.

Although the surfaces are not perfectly smooth (3D printing is done in layers), the plastic used can be sanded and painted much the same way you would handle resin or styrene as noted above.
